Pretty and classic image? Check! Film and emotion? Check! Accomplishing our goal of bucking trends? Check! Sure, the last series is absolutely ridiculous, but it makes us SO happy…
The image above works for us because it captures a real moment and true interaction, and the focus is on the couple. With that said, here’s the deal:
We. Are. SO. OVER. Walking. Pictures. OVER it. Done and done!
The wedding parties we work with almost invariably expect to walk straight towards us during their portraits - because they’ve done this in EVERY wedding they’ve been in. And we’ve all become used to seeing this fake candidness in almost all of the weddings littering the blogosphere and plastered all over Facebook. Super original, right? “Okay, now just walk towards the camera, acting like you’re talking, and then start laughing on cue.” BLAH.
With this crew, we decided that instead of avoiding this completely, as we normally do, we would just take the opposite approach - literally. The outcome was much more interesting and engaging than we had expected! It’s sarcastic and silly and bizarre in all the right ways. Crazy randomness shot on Portra film - actual Kodak moments? I kind of love it…
I think it’s hysterical that apparently when people walk BACKWARDS for pictures, they turn into robots. Well done E and Brandon and kudos to a fantastic wedding party who proved to be game for anything!
