5:00 A.M. ON SATURDAY - SO WORTH IT

I’m pretty much in LOVE with the sunrise and early morning images we snagged this past Saturday. Granted, we got started at 5:00 in the morning, but as I edit down and process the images I am realizing just how worth it the crazy scheduling was! Check out a couple faves I’ve pulled…

THE BECKETT FAMILY

beckett_asp1

Oh, how I love the family portrait above! Thanks to City Stages for letting us borrow one of the feature stages to rock out during our shoot.

The Becketts are the best! We met up last week for a family session that was a Mother’s Day gift - great idea by the way! I had such a fun time with the two beautiful daughters. Good thing I showed up wearing Rock & Republic jeans to the shoot, as this seemed to seal my “cool” factor with these teenagers. That quickly wore off…but still…

It was a great way to spend an afternoon for sure. A lovely family looking for some traditional portraits but willing to let their personalities play out and indulge my modern streak - who could ask for more?!

Here are just a few of my favorite images. Thanks for letting me hang out with you and capture some wonderful memories!

Her sweet mother flew in from Houston to partake in the fun, and we were also joined by her now mother-in-law, and amazing stylist Lindsay Keith Kessler!

Shot on-location at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on a sweltering hot day, Natalie was simply stunning and really made this a fabulous session! Check out just a few of my faves…

EMILY & MATT ARE TYING THE KNOT!

emilymatt_asp1

Dear Emily and Matt, thank you for being such troopers and indulging my affinity for really early morning sessions! So, at 5:45 yesterday morning I was with the lovely Emily and Matt headed downtown to rock some great sunrise shots…

We hit up a few cool locations, and even kicked back to enjoy a stellar breakfast together at The Continental Bakery in English Village. Mmmm…chocolate brioche and coffee! Best of all, their dog Cooper came along to play on our final set! More images to come for sure - check out a peek of this gorgeous session.

HOORAY FOR MR. AND MRS. MITCHELL!

leal_asp16

On June 6, 2009 I headed out to shoot the wedding of one of my favorite couples, Heather and Myles. I have been working with them for over a year now, and have gotten to know Heather really well. What a dear! This girl is fun and sassy, with a heart of gold. She and Myles have truly been a blessing to me…

We started off the morning with a trek out to a Gazebo in Heather’s neighborhood for she and her Groom to see each other for the first time. This was followed by fun images all over Heather’s house and at the church as they prepared to marry at St. Mark’s Cathedral. Oh how I loved their ceremony! The beautiful reception was thrown at Greystone Country Club.

Fun details were incorporated throughout the day in keeping with Heather’s vintage theme. Bridesmaids bouquets were made out of vintage lanterns, groomsmen wore brown tuxedos, programs and invitations were handmade. Everything came together just wonderfully!

I loved being a part of this wedding…and I hope you all enjoy a peek into their day…

ANNA & BRAD - ENGAGED!

annabrad_asp6

A huge congratulations to my sweet friend Anna and her soon-to-be hubs, Brad! I cannot express how humbled I was to be able to shoot their engagement session. Anna and I have been friends for years, as you will know if you keep up with this blog: you can read about her upcoming wedding here, and see her sister’s engagement pictures here.

Anna and Brad drove over from Atlanta to spend the morning with me last Friday. We hopped around all over Birmingham and got some really great images. By far the best thing about my morning with them was the opportunity to get to know Brad - and find out how cool he is! I also LOVED getting to peek into their relationship. It is a beautiful thing, and I know they have an amazing foundation to build their marriage upon…what a great blessing…

Take a peek and check out these rock-star images! You can find out more about Anna and Brad at their website!

MR. & MRS. HARRISON - FINALLY

harrison110

So, finally we have Mr. and Mrs. Harrison! Meghan and Byron tied the knot on May 23, 2009 in Birmingham, Alabama after approximately eight years of dating. I love their story. High school sweethearts are always special to me, as I married mine! And I’ve had the pleasure of knowing these two since they were in middle school…I think. Meghan and Byron both graduated from high school with my little brother, and it was SO much fun to get to know them on a different level - lay the foundation for a genuine friendship of my own with them.

I think the main lesson I’ve learned watching their relationship over the last year is from the intensity of their loyalty. They have stuck by one another through thick and thin, together and over distances, as they really grew up together and fell more and more in love. To watch Meghan and Byron and be acquainted with their hearts is to see love in action. Love is an action after all, and it was a blessing to be reminded of that by these newlyweds.

I spent the whole weekend tagging along with Meghan, everywhere she went. SO awesome!

First of all, I have to give a shout-out to my favorite quotes from the rehearsal dinner. I really couldn’t stop laughing when Mary Ivey, a bridesmaid who I’ve also know since she was very young, threw out “Byron, I’m really glad it didn’t work out with us going to Homecoming together sophomore year, because we wouldn’t all be here tonight”. Classic! And then from the Bride’s parent’s best friends, “We wish you all the happiness he THOUGHT he was going to have when he married me”. Love it!

I kicked off Saturday morning at the bridesmaid brunch, headed to the salon, and then bopped along throughout the wedding day with my girl. We had some really sweet moments of our own together, me and Meghan. I guess to sum it up, this couple is very special to me and I was beyond honored to be a part of their wedding.

Yeah, this happened. Please note the time on the clock in the background. What is a great idea 35 minutes before you get married? A game of dizzy-bat of course. Hilarious!

Other killer highlights: dueling pianos, rocking groom’s cake, hot shaves, Penney - the least candid, yet most random bridesmaid in the world, and the gorgeous dress and reception details. Perhaps I’ll post some more images a little later. Thanks so much Meghan and Byron for allowing me to capture your day! Congratulations and Best Wishes!

PREVIEW: HEATHER & MYLES

I’m a huge blog slacker. BLAM! But, here are some rockstar images from this past weekend’s vintage inspired wedding with a super cute bride, gazebo, piano, and lantern enshrined bridesmaids bouquets. More to come soon, and I’m for real this time. Thanks for calling me out [no names: JAMIE BURNETT] and thanks to Kelly for noting my dictations. Congrats Heather & Myles!
