AMANDA’S BRIDALS

I met up with Amanda a few weeks back for her Bridal Session. I had such a great time that day getting to know her! We had originally planned for an outdoor on-location shoot, and then had our plans shot down by the crazy weather we’ve been having here. We went ahead with the session, and I ended up with some images that I really loved and I was so glad that she was happy, despite the rainy, dreary weather! I haven’t been able to post anything before now as the dress was under wraps - so here are a few of my faves…

FILM IS WHERE THE HEART IS

So I shot some film.

Let me back up a bit…my background is completely film-based, and at some point over the last three years I became a digital photographer. And at some point during that time, I also lost a little bit of my heartbeat for photography. Then, a couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to kick it with some really amazing photographers for a few days at A Bryan’s workshop - which shall be blogged about in entirety in another post - and Bryan reminded me of where my journey began. So I made a decision to go back to the basics of my love affair with the art of photography, and I shot a couple rolls of film at the past two weddings I’ve covered. I just got the film back today from Richard Photo Lab! Here are the films I shot: 160 NC; Neopan 1600 B&W; and Provia 400 (cross-processed) - and seriously, the Provia was just some that I found in the studio - I love that we have random slide film laying around…

With that said, here are some images chosen completely at random from the scans we got back today. All SOOC (obviously), and no raw editing or post.

Dear A Bryan Team and new friends, thanks for helping me get a little bit of my heart back! Who knows where this will go - but it is an amazing blessing to see some passion roaring back into your life.

#29 - CHECK!

fashion12

Crazy high-fashion vintage shoot with friends - check! I LOVE checking things off the 101 in 1001 list! Last week we set out on this endeavor - in the middle of a completely slammed schedule - and it ended up being a whirlwind of fun. Note to self: working and shooting with friends just for the fun of photography, will bring back the heartbeat of your passion.

The day started off with some pretty intense sessions with master stylist extraordinaire, Fran Chaiprakob, a freelance artist based out of Salon U. What an amazing talent she has! Seriously, the creativity and inspiration she brought made the transformations actually come to life. Fran’s hairstyles created the foundation for the look and feel of the shoot - which was incredible! She has a blog coming soon, and as soon as it launches I’ll definitely give you all the link so you can check it out!

Next, the girls headed off to meet up with Jennifer Matthews, an absolutely incredible freelance make-up artist of Porcelain and Pink. This girl might have some magical powers. Her work is unbelievable! She perfectly brought each look together, and took our whole vision to a whole new level. You should definitely check her out!

To bring it all to life, the lovely Kelly played wardrobe stylist and hooked up our girls up with some great vintage clothing from Zoe’s in Forest Park. Now that we were all set to go, the whole entourage headed out to shoot in historic Irondale - which served as the perfect backdrop for our vintage theme. Right off the bat, we got kicked off the train tracks - awesome. And so we took to the vintage scenery and gorgeous colors that Irondale has to work with. Interesting side note: we shot a lot in and around The Irondale Cafe, which was the original “Whistle Stop Cafe” that the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was based on.

I can’t possibly say enough about our models! These two girls are true friends of my heart. We have been in a bible study together for three years and they are both very dear to me. Both have a spirit of laughter and fun and a heart for the Lord. So, without further adieu, here are my stunning friends Emily and Ruthie as fashionista vintage bombshells…
